Dr Joshua Hurwitz, MBBS, MPHTM, FRACP, is a medical oncologist based in Melbourne, practising at Cabrini & Waverley, treating all cancer streams with a special interest in breast and genitourinary malignancies (testicular, prostate, kidney and bladder cancers). His practice is founded on evidence and compassion, providing fast answers, precision medicine, and access to global clinical trials, ensuring care is available to patients regardless of geography.

Dr Hurwitz is a medical oncologist treating all cancers, with a subspecialty interest in breast and genitourinary cancers. He completed his medical education at James Cook University and earned a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2023.
Dr Hurwitz's training and experience have taken him across Australia. He completed his specialisation at Liverpool, Bankstown and St Vincent's Hospitals in Sydney. He then furthered his training at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, undertaking a prestigious breast and genitourinary cancer fellowship under the guidance of Profs Elgene Lim and Anthony Joshua. These mentors, giants in the field, shaped Dr Hurwitz's approach to patient care, matching treatment to the individual and the underlying biology rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. He also completed an observership at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Dr Hurwitz is now based in Melbourne, dividing his time between private practice and public hospital appointments at Monash Health and Bayside Health. Alongside his clinical work, he pursues his academic interests, including a PhD in metastatic breast cancer at Monash University, and serves as principal investigator and sub-investigator on numerous breast and genitourinary cancer trials. Dr Hurwitz believes the intersection of clinical practice, academia, and education is central to being a well-rounded, holistic, compassionate clinician. Outside of clinic, research, and podcasting, most of his time goes to his wife and their two young children, and whatever's left over usually goes to ABC Classic FM, photography, or a run.
Dr Hurwitz's private practice is conducted through Oncology Clinics Victoria (OCV), a network of medical oncologists and clinical haematologists based at Cabrini's Malvern and Brighton hospitals, delivering coordinated, multidisciplinary cancer care.
